Gebeya, a Pan-African talent cloud technology company, has entered into a strategic partnership with NVIDIA, one of the world’s largest companies by market capitalization, to establish an ecosystem of 50,000 NVIDIA-certified developers across Africa. This collaboration will be implemented in phases, beginning with a proof-of-concept phase in the first year and expanding to encompass all African countries by the third year.
Developers who participate in this initiative will gain access to NVIDIA’s extensive community and ecosystem, as well as receive training and certifications from the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute. This partnership was launched by Gebeya eight months after it transitioned into an all-in-one talent cloud provider in February 2024. Originally founded in 2017 as an edtech startup, Gebeya has evolved its platform to offer comprehensive solutions that address organizational needs, including public, private, strategic, and sourcing talent clouds.
Under the partnership with NVIDIA, Gebeya’s Talent Cloud will leverage its AI-driven Talent Cloud Technology to provide skilling, recruitment, vetting, matching, and community-building services. The platform will also incorporate NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute learning paths, enabling developers to earn NVIDIA certifications. This initiative aims to address the skills shortage in AI across Africa by equipping African developers with specialized skills in utilizing NVIDIA technologies, thereby fostering growth and innovation within the continent’s tech industry.
Wei Xiao, Director of Developer Relations at NVIDIA, remarked that the collaboration with Gebeya, which focuses on African developers, will help establish Africa as a hub for AI expertise, attract investments, and promote global competitiveness. Amadou Daffe, CEO of Gebeya, added that the partnership will provide a unified solution for fragmented tech communities, bridge the AI skills gap, accelerate industry growth and innovation, and position Africa as a center for NVIDIA expertise.
Previously, in December 2023, Gebeya collaborated with Microsoft to launch Microsoft.Gebeya.com, a skills and job-matching platform. This partnership aims to upskill 300,000 developers in Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho, Nigeria, Egypt, and Mozambique over three years, with a target of training 150,000 developers in the first year.
It is noteworthy that Gebeya is not the only platform offering a Talent Cloud solution. Andela, an Africa-focused talent outsourcing startup, launched the Andela Talent Cloud in December 2023. This integrated, end-to-end platform connects skilled talent with businesses, transforming the hiring process for tech companies and professionals.
