Phones are about to get a huge boost as SanDisk reveals the highest capacity for a microSD card, in the form of a 200GB memory card. Last year, Innovation Village reported the company launched a 128GB memory card.
The 200GB card which will cost about $400 will be available in the second quarter of the year. Also, the new the new microSDXC card uses the same technology that SanDisk developed for the 128GB microSDXC card it introduced last year, but with an improved design allowing the company to increase storage capacity by 56 percent. The new card also boasts transfer speeds of up to 90MB/sec.
Unfortunately, the two biggest phone makers – Samsung and Apple – do not use the microSD anymore. Apple never made provisions for additional memory while Samsung in its latest product the Samsung S6 and the S6 Edge removed the microSD slot.
