This week’s iteration of the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build, version 22579, is now rolling out. In comparison to prior builds, the new Windows 11 update for the Dev channel doesn’t bring in a lot of changes, but we do get things to look at. Here’s a rundown of what’s new.
What’s New in Windows Insider Preview Build 22579?
IT administrators will appreciate the BitLocker enhancements in this Windows 11 Insider Preview Build, which restrict USB portable drives from encryption. This is believed to solve the problem of video cameras, voice recorders, conferencing systems, medical devices, and other removable storage devices being accidentally encrypted.
Microsoft has shown how to keep storage from being encrypted. This can be accomplished by gathering all of the devices whose IDs need to be excluded and establishing the BitLocker Exclusion list Policy in Intune. You can go over the processes in details to get a better understanding.
As part of the update, new ISO images are also available. This will make it simple for customers to install Windows 11 from scratch. You may download the Windows 11 ISOs from this link.
In addition to the option to add programs to Start Menu folders that was introduced in a previous version, Windows 11 now allows you to name the folders on Start. To do so, simply create one, click on it, and then use the “Edit Name” option to give it a name.
The update also features enhanced multi-finger touch gestures, including a three-finger gesture (swipe left or right) to navigate between recently used windows, as well as site suggestions in the Get Started app to pin these sites to the taskbar.
Other improvements include the addition of a Run New Task button on all Task Manager pages, a Windows 11 appearance for Win32 apps, a Fluent design for the Magnifier and on-screen keyboard, and more. A number of bugs have been fixed in build 22579.
To be clear, this is a Windows 11 Preview update for Dev Channel Insiders only, and it is not intended for the general public. It’s unclear when it will be available to all users, so stay tuned for further information.
