At the end of a week rife with technical glitches across several firms, Uber wrapped up the week with its own glitch which sent drivers to a rider’s destination before picking them up.
From the numerous complaints posted on Social media, the glitch appears to affect primarily the Uber Driver app, not the rider app.
Normally, Uber does not show a rider’s destination until the ride begins, in order to avoid instances where drivers cancel rides because they don’t like the direction or length of a requested trip.
An irritated rider Tweeted at Uber saying, “It showed me my pickup location correctly,” they said, “It showed the driver my destination location, instead. This happened 2x. The second time, I called the driver and reset my pickup location w/o moving the pin. Only then did the driver get the correct location.”
An Uber spokesperson said that the issue resulted from a service interruption, and that the ride-hailing firm’s team was working to quote, “resolve and ensure riders and drivers’ trips returned to a five star experience.”
