Uber-India has announced a 24/7 safety helpline which will enable users to report issues to Uber’s safety team.
The new helpline will be dedicated to urgent but non-emergency issues such as co-passenger misbehavior, dispute with drivers or vehicle breakdown while a trip is ongoing.
Head of Central Operations (Rides), Uber India and South Asia, Pavan Vaish, said in a statement, “All our riders will now be able to access this helpline, any time of the day or night, should they need urgent assistance during their trip.”
This feature is an addition to the in-app SOS button currently available.
The SOS button allows riders to contact law enforcement in case of a potentially life threatening emergency.
The new helpline will allow the rider to speak to an Uber representative in either English or Hindi.
It will be accessible within the app under the ‘Safety Toolkit banner‘.
