ClusterLab, an artificial intelligence (AI) startup that was founded in Tunisia and is currently based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has successfully raised $600,000 in a pre-seed funding round.

The significant investment, led by Karim Beguir, who is the Chief Executive Officer of another Tunisian AI company called InstaDeep, is set to fuel ClusterLab’s commitment towards the research and development of next-generation large language models (LLMs).

The development and deployment of these advanced LLMs are anticipated to boost ClusterLab’s capabilities in the field of natural language processing (NLP), a branch of AI that gives machines the ability to understand, interpret, and generate human languages. NLP improvements are expected to enhance the user experience within ClusterLab’s AI-powered products significantly.

Notable among these products are Reedz, a mobile application that provides summarized versions of audiobooks, and Elm, an educational application that uses AI to facilitate learning.

This funding marks a significant progression for ClusterLab as it seeks to revolutionize the way Arabic content is created and consumed. The AI startup is determined to utilize the potential of AI to make Arabic content more user-friendly, interactive, and globally accessible.

Established in Tunisia back in 2020 by visionaries Haithem Kchaou and Chehir Dhaouadi, ClusterLab has carved out a niche in specializing in AI and NLP technologies. The company is steadfast in its commitment to leveraging AI for bringing about a positive impact on social and educational domains.

Importantly, ClusterLab’s collaborative efforts with InstaDeep on a national AI initiative for Tunisia’s Ministry of Higher Education is a testament to this commitment. Additionally, their selection for the highly regarded Nvidia Inception Program for AI startups further underscores their innovative strides in the field of AI.

Kchaou, CEO of ClusterLab, reiterated the company’s unique expertise in a statement, remarking, “Our expertise goes beyond the limitations of current large language models. We were forerunners in using NLP for innovative content summarization well before it became mainstream.”

This indicates the proactiveness of ClusterLab in stepping into uncharted territories of NLP before they even entered the mainstream, giving them a competitive edge in the industry.
