Out of the 30 finalists for Aso Villa Demo day competition, the top three finalists chosen to pitch before the President are Shuttlers NG, Tracology, and RecyclePoints.
They each received NGN3 million. Here are what the startups do.
Shuttlers is a multi-staff bus company set up to assist professionals in the Lagos metropolis and its environs to resolve the daily challenge of commuting to work – such as driving stress, hustling for buses, queuing for fuel, long waits for BRTs, and so on.
Shuttlers aims to improve the quality of life of professionals by transforming the daily commute time to a relaxing and comfortable time where they can read, snooze, or continue work. This is possible because Shuttlers operates buses and mini-vans that are air-conditioned and wifi-fitted. The company said their drivers are professionally trained, cautious and courteous.
Tracology‘s patented process deploys Barcodes/QRcodes to residences serviced by utility/waste management company registered with us. These Barcodes/QRcodes are scanned on waste pickup day thereby verifying customers that have paid using electronic payment. This process can also be used for payment by citizens to government for other services.
The company also operate as a software service company, so they can interface/work with existing revenue collectors in states to generate increased revenue for government.
For RecyclePoints, the company operates as a waste recycling and social benefit venture that operates an incentive-based scheme which collects recyclable materials from post consumers and in turn rewards them with “Points” which they can accumulate and use to redeem/shop for household items offered through the company’s iRecycle store.
The company’s model is an incentive “Point-Based” collection program that allocates “Points” to the quantity of recyclable items neatly collected at the point of disposal by post-consumers who in turn use the earned “Points” to redeem numerous identified household items and services. Subscribers to the scheme are given Green Cards, were items collected and counted are recorded against each week of the month. Recyclers get an SMS notification at the end of the week on the number of “Points” gained. Thereafter, the “Points” gained could be traded in exchange for equivalent tagged items available at the RecyclePoints “iRecycle Store”. Redeemed items are collected from RecyclePoints’ office or delivered to the Recycler directly on request. The company also awards bonus points for any environmentally friendly activity they promote or encourage.
Congratulations to the finalists
