Uber is testing a new service which bundles some of its services into one service offering. This means car rides, food delivery, and scooter and bike access for a monthly subscription fee.
The pilot phase is using Chicago and San Francisco as test locations.
In a statement by an Uber spokesman to TechCrunch, “From meals to wheels and everything in between, we’re always looking for ways to make Uber the go-to option for your everyday needs.”
It seems Uber would like to be Amazon of transportation.
The new service offering is similar to Uber’s Ride Pass launched last October already available in more than 20 cites, except that subscription doesn’t include the Uber Eats perk.
But this is the first time Uber is combining all of its consumer offerings into one monthly subscription.
With the increase in the number of players in this industry, Uber needs to differentiate itself and it needs to shift the customer’s focus on price as a determining factor.
