Two African companies – SweepSouth and Kudobuzz – have been selected to feature at the 14th round of 500 Startups Accelerator Program. Here is the list of 35 startups that will feature in this batch

SweepSouth is a South African startup that provides a convenient way to book home cleaning services online from a phone, tablet or computer, connecting clients to cleaners in minutes. SweepSouth is owned by husband and wife team Alen Ribic and Aisha R. Pandor. Last year, SweepSouth emerged as the winner of SiMODiSA Start-Up South Africa 2014 and was voted amongst Web Summit Top 10 African Start-Ups.

Kudobuzz is a Ghanaian startup that provides a reviewing and marketing solution for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), helping businesses to generate verifiable reviews, drive traffic and increase sales. Kudobuzz was incubated by Ghana’s Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST).

Dropifi, another Ghanaian startup, became the first African startup to join the accelerator program in 2013

The 500 Startups is a Silicon Valley venture capital seed fund & startup accelerator founder by former PayPal & Google alumni. The Accelerator is a four-month long programme held in Silicon Valley, which comes with $100k net of fees (or $125k gross – see next question) for 5% of the startup.
