Digital Terrestrial Technology (DTT) service in Africa, StarTimes has crossed the One million subscriber mark in Nigeria. This was disclosed by Bayo Adeniyi, the Senior Adviser, StarTimes Digital Satellite/NTA last week.
He also said that the company has launched the DVB-T2 technology in Nigeria and other parts of the continent. StarTimes also operates in Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique and Tanzania.
Mr Adebiyi said that one of the advantages of the DVB-T2 technology is its ability to offer more entertainment since is contained more channels, stressing that one frequency on DVB-T2 had the capacity of 25 channels.

Its major rival in Nigeria is DSTV (“Digital Satellite Television”) operated by MultiChoice’s digital satellite TV service in Africa and owned by Naspers.
