South Africa’s WigWag rebrands as “Stitch Express” under parent company Stitch

WigWag, a South African e-commerce digital payments platform, has undergone a rebranding under its parent company, Stitch, and will now be known as “Stitch Express.” This refreshed solution is specifically designed to support businesses that utilize e-commerce platforms by providing simplified and high-converting digital payment options.

Founded in February 2021, Stitch is a payments infrastructure company that aims to help businesses scale more rapidly and operate with greater efficiency. The Stitch payments API and its accompanying tools significantly reduce the complexity involved for businesses across various sectors in connecting to the financial system, ultimately enhancing the user experience.

Since its inception, Stitch has successfully raised a total of $52 million in funding. In September 2023, the company launched WigWag as a new brand aimed at serving small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and individual business owners with straightforward, no-code payment solutions powered by the Stitch API.

Since the launch of WigWag, the client base has expanded considerably, and the team has developed a comprehensive suite of payment solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs of e-commerce businesses of all sizes. Now, WigWag is transitioning back under the Stitch umbrella as Stitch Express, allowing it to continue providing essential services to businesses operating on e-commerce platforms.

Danielle Laity, the head of product at Stitch and lead for Stitch Express, explained the rationale behind the rebranding:

Stitch Express has been designed with the specific needs of e-commerce merchants in mind. It combines the insights and developments we gained at WigWag with the deep expertise, technical reliability, and fast-paced growth of the Stitch platform to bring both worlds closer together. We’re excited to enable more merchants to access Stitch payments and to continue developing the Stitch Express solution in collaboration with the e-commerce businesses we serve.

This strategic rebranding reflects Stitch’s commitment to enhancing its offerings and providing tailored solutions that empower e-commerce merchants, ultimately facilitating smoother transactions and improved customer experiences in the digital payments landscape.
