On Wednesday, Snapchat announced the rollout of several new features for both regular users and Snapchat+ subscribers, just in time for the holiday season. These updates include expanded chat options, new app themes, and additional festive features.
One of the key updates for all Snapchat users is the ability to save conversations for up to seven days, rather than having them disappear after 24 hours. Snapchat explains that this feature will be particularly useful for making holiday lists without the worry of them vanishing. Additionally, it can be handy for planning holiday surprises within group chats, allowing users to revisit the details as needed.
For Snapchat+ subscribers, the company is introducing new immersive app themes. These themes allow paying users to select from a variety of preset color schemes, changing the look and feel of the app across all tabs. Subscribers will also get early access to a new set of Bitmoji reactions in Chat, enhancing their messaging experience.
Nonpaying users are not left out, as Snapchat is rolling out new holiday-themed Lenses, including a fun Ugly Sweater Lens, to add a festive touch to their snaps. Snapchat+ was launched in 2022, offering users access to early and exclusive features for a subscription fee of $3.99 per month. Some of these exclusive features include Chat Wallpapers, Custom App Icons, AI Bitmoji Pets, and more.
In August, Snap revealed that Snapchat+ had surpassed 11 million paying users, highlighting the popularity and success of the subscription service. These new features aim to enhance the user experience on Snapchat during the holiday season, providing both free and paying users with exciting new ways to engage with the app.
