She Leads Africa which is a business-focused accelerator for young African women, has become the first African startup to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange, the world’s biggest stock exchange with a market capitalization of US$19.3 trillion.

The women based business accelerator got the honour after it was invited to showcase its achievements and successes in 2016 in engaging more 200,000 African Women through delivering business and career advice.

The Closing Bell ceremony was live streamed on the NYSE website and on television networks such as Bloomberg TV, CNBC, and Fox Business News and reached a total f 150 million viewers.

Interestingly, She Leads Africa co-founders, Afua Osei and Yasmin Belo-Osagie, joins other notable leaders such as former South African President Nelson Mandela, former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan, and African Union Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma who have had the honour of ringing the Closing Bell at the NYSE.
