The South African e-health startup RecoMed has established a strategic partnership with Discovery Vitality to enhance the efficiency of scheduling flu vaccinations and Vitality Health Checks for patients nationwide. This collaboration is designed to improve patient access and streamline the experience of securing healthcare appointments across South Africa.
RecoMed operates as a digital healthcare marketplace, offering an online platform that facilitates the connection between patients and a wide array of healthcare providers. Discovery Vitality, recognized for its pioneering behavior change programs, contributes a vast network of healthcare providers to this joint endeavor.
Leveraging their combined strengths, RecoMed and Discovery Vitality have developed an integrated platform that simplifies the process for patients to book appointments. The platform features access to over 1,000 approved Discovery Vitality providers, encompassing pharmacies, general practitioners, and Discovery Stores.
The initiative has already garnered considerable user engagement, with over 20,000 appointments booked through the service since its inception in April 2024.
Sheraan Amod, the CEO of RecoMed, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting Discovery Vitality’s dedication to enhancing member experiences. He emphasized that by streamlining the appointment booking system, the collaboration is actively facilitating individuals in managing their health and wellness more effectively.
