Over 150,000 audiobooks now available with your Spotify Premium subscription

Spotify announced that it will be making over 150,000 audiobooks with your Spotify Premium Subscription. The streaming giant says that each Premium individual, as well as plan managers for Family and Duo accounts, is getting 15 hours of listening every month, giving you the chance to enjoy as many titles as you want within that monthly allocation

This means that eligible users are now getting even more from their Premium subscriptions: an on-demand catalog of more than 100 million tracks, 5 million podcasts, and over 150,000 audiobooks.

This feature is available for Premium users in the U.K. and Australia effective October 4, with the U.S. following later this year. The rest of the world will come after, according to Spotify CEO Daniel Ek’s post of X (Twitter)

How to find Audiobooks on Spotify Premium

Any book that’s marked “Included in Premium” is available within the Spotify Premium catalog. According to Spotify, the catalog currently encompasses upwards of 70% of bestselling books, with titles from major publishers including Hachette, HarperCollins Publishers among others.

To listen to the first book on your Spotify list, simply type in the title in Search and hit play on the first chapter (or listen to the preview to make sure it’s exactly what you’re looking for!). You can also explore audiobook recommendations easily from the Spotify Home feed. Or, head to Spotify audiobooks hub to find an editorially curated selection of top titles.

How to listen to Audiobooks on Spotify

For 15 hours, you can listen the way you want. You can explore multiple titles or stick with one and listen from start to finish.

For those that exhaust the 15 hours before their monthly billing cycle refreshes, they can purchase a 10-hour top-up to finish up. To check how many hours you have left, you can check it at any time in your in-app settings

Note that you must have a Premium individual account or be the plan manager for your Family or Duo account in order to take advantage of this feature. Spotify says it is working on more ways to unlock access to Premium audiobooks in the future, but for now, primary account holders on Family and Duo plans will receive the monthly audiobooks allocation.

The audiobooks are available on the go, with Spotify available on over 2,000 devices from more than 200 brands. Users with Premium audiobook access can download audiobooks for offline listening as well.

While you’re immersed in your audiobooks, Spotify’s automatic bookmarking feature ensures that your progress is preserved, allowing for seamless continuation from where you last left off. Don’t forget to take advantage of the “end of chapter” function within the Spotify Sleep Timer, enabling you to peacefully drift into slumber while enjoying your favorite narratives, all without the need to rewind in the morning and potentially lose precious listening hours.
