Orange, a leading telecommunications provider operating in 18 countries across Africa and the Middle East, has recently joined forces with Spotify, the world’s foremost music streaming platform. This strategic partnership aims to provide an enhanced music experience for Orange’s mobile customers, reinforcing Orange’s position as a comprehensive entertainment service provider.

One of the key highlights of this collaboration is the provision of complimentary data bonuses, granting Orange customers seamless access to Spotify’s extensive music library. Specifically, mobile users in Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, and Mali and very soon in Guinea, will enjoy music for free on Spotify platform when subscribing to an Orange mobile offer.

With a global community boasting over 551 million monthly active listeners, including 220 million subscribers, Spotify offers an extensive collection of tracks exceeding 82 million. This partnership enables Orange customers to curate personalized playlists, adding a new dimension to their musical journey.

Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy, Managing Director for Spotify in Sub-Saharan Africa, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “We are excited to partner with Orange Middle East & Africa to offer data bonuses to our customers in Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Madagascar, and Mali, allowing them to enjoy our vast music library of over 100 million songs, without worrying about data. We are aware that data costs continue to be a hindrance for people who would like to stream music, that’s why we are actively working at Spotify SSA on partnerships like this one.”

Orange Middle East and Africa’s Deputy CEO, Brelotte Ba, highlighted the significance of the partnership, saying, “We are pleased to partner with Spotify to bring a new experience to our customers in Africa and the Middle East. As a multi-service operator on the continent, we want to provide our customers with easier access to the rich musical culture in Africa and to the promotion of local talents. The deployment of this service in the countries where we are present will greatly facilitate access to an incomparable musical experience for all communities and thus contribute to the acceleration of digital inclusion on the continent.”

Recognizing the central role of music in African entertainment, this collaboration presents an opportunity for Spotify to leverage Orange’s extensive mobile user base to promote local talents and expand their reach. Orange envisions this partnership as a significant step toward enriching the musical experience across Africa, fostering deeper connections to cultural and entertainment elements. Orange is actively exploring opportunities to extend this offering to additional countries in the future.
