    Innovations that make tasks in the kitchen less tedious are a welcome solution anywhere in the world. At recent Consumer Electronics Show 2015 big brands showcased their latest and upcoming products that incorporate smart technology.  Household brands like LG, Samsung are incorporating innovative applications in there kitchen appliances.

    While smart phones popularity and sales are increasing it is still unclear how smart kitchen appliances will be received in the local market.

    LG has developed an application that will enable mobile phones to chat with refrigerator.  This will effectively take kitchen management to a whole new level.

    According to LG’s website, HomeChat messaging service employs Natural Language Processing (NLP)  LINE, the popular mobile messenger app, to let homeowners communicate, control, and monitor and share content with LG’s latest smart appliances.

    Homechat application will enable users to ask simple questions like “Are there any tomatoes left?”.

    This app is applicable to LG Smart Fridge,  LG Smart washing machine and LG smart light oven.

    The days of sprinting from the living room to the kitchen because something is burning will soon come to an end with Dacor’s Discovery iQ 48″ Dual-Fuel Range. Dacor,  an American brand that is relatively unknown in Africa with presence limited to South Africa.  This new range cookers is currently only available in the American market, and can be programmed to send an SMS when food is ready.
