Google LLC today announced that its proposed $5.4 billion bid to buy Mandiant, Inc. a recognized leader in dynamic cyber defense, threat intelligence and incident response services is now complete.
The Tech Giant had earlier announced its plans in March noting the cybersecurity firm Mandiant will help to provide a security operation suite as well as advisory services that will enable Google’s customers address critical security challenges and remain protected at every stage of the security lifecycle.
“Mandiant shares our cybersecurity vision and will join Google Cloud to help organizations improve their threat, incident and exposure management,”the Tech Giant said in a blog post.
Going forward, Mandiant will operate under the Google Cloud umbrella, although the Mandiant brand will remain.
“We will retain the Mandiant brand and continue Mandiant’s mission to make every organization secure from cyber threats and confident in their readiness,” Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian wrote in a blog post.
Google is in competition with Microsoft, which also bidded to acquire Mandiant. The new acquisition will deliver an end-to-end security operations suite with even greater capabilities to support customers across their cloud and on-premise environments.
The acquisition will also provide Google Cloud with real-time, in-depth threat intelligence technology and expertise that Mandiant has built from working with the largest organizations in the world on the frontlines of cybersecurity.
Mandiant is known for delivering frontline expertise and top-notch threat intelligence as a proven first responder to some of the world’s largest cybersecurity incidents.
Mandiant CEO Kevin Mandia said his company’s goal will remain the same as part of Google Cloud: make every organization secure from cyberthreats and confident in their readiness.
“Combining our 18 years of threat intelligence and incident response experience with Google Cloud’s security expertise presents an incredible opportunity to deliver with the speed and scale that the security industry needs,” Mandia said in a statement.
Mandiant’s services are spread across 22 countries, helping enterprises and organizations of all sizes prepare for and react to cybersecurity incidents.
