Fluent in French, he won national competitions and pursued further studies in France and the United States, including at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

At Corning Glass Works, he played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the manufacturing process of optical fibers, significantly increasing production speeds and making the technology more accessible and cost-effective. At Bell Laboratories, Dr. Mensah led programs contributing to the development of laser-guided weapons systems, showcasing his versatility and impact across various domains of technology. He also served as president and CEO of Georgia Aerospace Systems, where his contributions to advanced nanocomposite structures benefited the US Department of Defense.
