Is Facebook gradually becoming Facetube? In a recent announcement, Facebook reported that video views on Facebook have hit an average of 1 billion views a day. And guess what? 65% of the views are on mobile. Video uploaded directly to Facebook is an increasingly important part of News Feed, and more people than ever before are sharing, discovering, and engaging with videos that they care about. This phenomenal growth has been made possible by the fact that Facebook has made several improvements to make it easier for people to discover and share great videos on Facebook such as
- videos started coming to life with auto-play as people scrolled through their News Feed;
- improvement of Video ranking in News Feed to show people more videos that are relevant and interesting to them and more.
Talking about two new features rolling out this week, Fidji Simo, Product Management Director, Video, reveals that people will be able to see how many views a video on Facebook has received. Views will be shown on public videos from people and Pages, to help people discover new, popular videos. The second feature is “Bringing more videos to life in News Feed.” In another blog post, Fidji says After introducing videos that start playing automatically in News Feed earlier this year, we’ve found that people discover significantly more content with this feature. And when used in combination with our new video views objective, businesses are seeing a significant decrease in cost per view for their Facebook video ads. So in the coming weeks, we’ll extend the availability of videos that play automatically to more content from more brands in the US Fidji continues by saying, “The goal of News Feed is to deliver the right stories to the right people at the right time, from the people and things you care about. And more people than ever before are seeing, sharing and expressing themselves with video on Facebook.” So how many times have you told your story on Facebook using videos?
