Whatsapp is one of the most widely used messaging platforms worldwide. Earlier this year it introduced a biometric feature for its users on iPhone devices, a group calling feature and an option to select who is allowed to add you to a group chat.
The app is soon to see new features in the next few months. The features are currently in beta. Here are some of the features.
1. Dark Mode
This feature will see the user interface of the app switch to a dark gray shade, other than completely black.
Some users with the latest version of the app have spotted dark mode on a few menus such as Chats List, Calls, Contact Profiles and Group Settings and Status.
The feature in beta will be an app-wide dark mode option.
2. Hide Muted Status
This feature will allow WhatsApp users to to hide status updates from individuals on their contact list whom they had muted.
A “hide” button will appear at the top of a muted status update. If a user wishes to unmute someone, they will click the “Hide” option again to unmute the individuals.
3. Frequently Forwarded
This feature allows users to see the count on a forwarded message: i.e to see how many times a particular message has been forwarded.
This information will only be available for sent messages only.
A message fits the frequently forwarded criteria if it has been forwarded more than 4 times.
According to various online media reports, WhatsApp is also working on a feature that’ll enable sharing of WhatsApp status to Facebook stories.
