Babajide Duroshola has announced that he is stepping down from the helm of affairs as the Country Director of Safeboda in Nigeria. He made the announcement via a medium post today
Babajide joined the ride-hailing startup in May 2019 after leaving Andela as the Community Manager, Technical Talent. He led the startup through a crucial period, the ban on commercial bike-hailing companies, which saw him launch the startup in Ibadan instead of Lagos.
While at Safeboda, Babajide Duroshola was also responsible for the following achievements, over a year of commercial operations, with a 50+ people team:
- Completed 1.5 Million trips across Ibadan
- Onboarded 5,000+ drivers
- Enhanced our embedded finance play with the launch of cashless payment, airtime and driver buy-now-pay-later offerings
- Built solid partnerships with companies like Imalipay, Paddycover, Allianz, and a host of others.
As to who would be replacing him, Babajide stated that it would most likely be a current employee. He wished that the person, not yet named, would continue to lead the company to groundbreaking heights.
On what’s next? He says that he is “currently taking some much-needed family bonding time (shuttling Lagos — Ibadan wasn’t easy on us), enjoying a glass of whiskey with friends while preparing for what’s coming next.”
