MTN Group has appointed Ali Monzer to lead its operations in South Sudan as the CEO, effective from 1 April 2024. The company made an announcement regarding Monzer’s new role today, confirming that he will take over from Gordian Kyomukama, who is set to retire from the group.
Monzer is already a distinguished member of the MTN Group having held ever-increasing senior roles. His most recent position was as the Chief Technology and Information Officer of MTN Uganda. According to the company, Monzer’s extensive 23 years of experience in the telecommunications industry makes him well-suited for his latest role.
In past roles, Ali Monzer has notably demonstrated success in various areas such as cost optimisation, operational efficiency, market growth, and improving the customer experience. Moreover, he holds a master’s degree in Computer Communication Engineering in addition to holding relevant industry certifications.
Ralph Mupita, the President and CEO of the MTN Group, praised Monzer for his rich experience and successful track record in technology and operations which make him the right choice to guide MTN South Sudan towards persistent growth and success. At the same time, Mupita took the opportunity to express his gratitude towards Gordian Kyomukama for his vigor, determination, and exemplary work ethic in his role.
