    Airtel Congo launches social health program – AIRTEL SANTE

    As part of its social responsibility program, Airtel Congo in partnership with the NGO ‘DEPGADET MEDICAL CENTER’ has today launched a social health platform for communities called ‘AIRTEL SANTE’. The ceremony that was held at the « Centre sportif de Makélékélé » in Brazzaville, was sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Populations of Congo.

    ‘AIRTEL SANTE’ is a mobile clinic program designed by Airtel Congo for the people of Brazzaville and Pointe Noire. The program provides medical services in the prevention against diseases like Arterial high blood pressure, Diabetes, Cholesterol, Obesity, Malaria and AIDS.

    Airtel Congo in partnership with Depgadet Medical Center, the National Vaccination Program and the National Program against AIDS will provide free medical consultations to the local population. In addition, a dedicated line (144) has been put in place for free access to a doctor by simply dialing, the line is open to the public 24/7 for any health concern.

    On the first day of the ‘AIRTEL SANTE’ campaign, the residents of Makélékélé and Bacongo in Brazzaville responded positively to Airtel Congo’s call on their social sites pages. The campaign diagnosed 300 cases of AIDS, 200 vaccinations cases and 200 medical consultations.

    The representative from the Ministry of Health and Populations, congratulated Airtel Congo for this great initiative which allows the people access free medical services that prevents them against such fatal diseases.  Speaking at the launch, he said: “Airtel Congo demonstrates its social responsibility through this important activity. I would like to encourage all the other organizations to replicate Airtel Congo’s initiative. This campaign demonstrates Airtel Congo’s responsibility for communities living around them by playing part in bringing up healthy communities.

    The Managing Director of Airtel Congo, John Ndego, affirmed the social policy of Airtel Congo and thanked the government of Congo for the effort it has taken in caring about the health of the people. This engagement by Airtel Congo contributes to the well-being of Congolese making sure that there are working solutions for the needy. The program comes at a time when majority of hardworking Congolese citizens do not have financial capability for basic health.

    The ‘AIRTEL SANTE’ initiative will run for four weeks with two mobile clinics in Brazzaville from the 26th to the 31st of May at the «Centre Sportif Makélékélé» and from the 2nd to 7th of June at the National Television «Nkombo». Two additional mobile clinics will be deployed in Pointe Noire from 9th to 14th June at the «Rond-point Lumumba» and from 16th to 21st June in the «Rond Mont Kamba» of Pointe Noire.
