The African Business Angel Network (ABAN), in collaboration with a consortium of leading market players, has officially launched the Africa Sports & Creative Early Stage Investor Network. This initiative is specifically designed to mobilize angel capital for high-growth startups operating within the sports and creative sectors.
As the largest pan-African organization dedicated to angel investors, ABAN has joined forces with TRACE, El Carnaval Limited, and Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors to establish this network. The primary objective is not only to provide essential financial support to startups but also to empower entrepreneurs through mentorship, skills development, and enhanced access to markets.
The Africa Sports & Creative Early Stage Investor Network is focused on nurturing startups across a diverse range of industries, including sports technology, entertainment, fashion, gaming, film, music, e-sports, and digital content. By targeting these dynamic sectors, the network aims to foster innovation and growth.
Fadilah Tchoumba, CEO of ABAN, emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating;
Africa’s sports and creative industries have the potential to be economic giants, but they need capital that understands their unique value. The launch of this investor network marks a groundbreaking moment; it bridges the gap between capital and creativity, unlocking new investment opportunities while strengthening Africa’s position as a global leader in innovation and culture.
This network represents a pivotal step towards realizing the immense potential of Africa’s creative and sports industries, ensuring that they receive the necessary support to thrive and contribute to the continent’s economic development.
