Maliyo Games has officially announced the commencement of the fourth iteration of GameUp Africa, an educational initiative designed to nurture and equip budding game development talent with the essential tools and knowledge to flourish within the competitive international gaming industry.

Inaugurated in 2021, GameUp Africa is a comprehensive training program that spans five months and is conducted in-house. The program is dedicated to fostering the growth of young African game developers and creators from across the continent, providing them with an opportunity to hone their skills and creativity.

The initiative is driven by Maliyo Games, a prominent game development studio headquartered in Lagos, known for its unique portfolio of over 40 mobile games that draw inspiration from African culture and narratives.

Hugo Obi, the founder and CEO of Maliyo Games, expressed immense pride in launching the program’s fourth edition, highlighting its significant influence on the gaming industry and its sustained success over time. This year, the program aims to broaden its scope by enhancing its curriculum to include a wider array of skills that are crucial for success in both local and international gaming markets.

Applications are open until August 11.
