    African Startups Can Now Apply to Pitch for Mouth Watering Prizes at the Nairobi Innovation Week 2018

    Do you have the arsenal to pitch at a startup event? If your answer is YES then you don’t want to miss the Nairobi Innovation Week (NIW) 2018.

    Potential applicants have until next week Wednesday (31 January) to register with NIW Startups to take part in the event. In all 100 startups will be selected to participate.

    The fourth edition of Nairobi Innovation Week will be held between 5 and 9 March.

    Interestingly application is open to idea stage, early stage and growth stage African startups.

    Also, startups will be selected on four main criteria, namely ingenuity, scalability and impact, traction and team composition.

    The selected startups will be announced on 29 February.

    There will be opportunities for selected Startups to mingle with NIW’s partners who include Unicef, Metta Viktoria Ventures, iBiz Africa and Finland’s foreign affairs ministry.

    In a press release on Saturday (20 January), NIW planning committee chairperson Tonny Omwansa said he was hopeful that NIW Startups will be a “springboard for increased collaboration among the many organizations involved.

    Other than exposure to the event’s partners, selected startups stand to win a number of funding opportunities, including $10 000 in cash and incubation support from global health impact investor Villgro Kenya, 1-million Kenyan Shillings for the most promising startup by the University of Nairobi and a $5000 people’s choice award.

    In addition, NIW.Startups will also benefit from access to investors and media at the event.
