YouTube Music has started to rolling out 2022 Recap on its app to help music lovers reminisce those favourite musical moments from January till date.
The music platform launched this feature last year to take users on a journey through their “year in sound” that will bring fun, shareable stats, and a personalised playlist to help them relive all their favourite music from the past year.
“Music fans can tap into their 2022 Recap page on the YouTube Music app and scroll through to see their personalized stats (top artists, songs, music videos, playlists and more) from this year,” the team says in an official blog post.
The platform says it is making the YouTube Music Recap experience even more immersive first by bringing it to the main YouTube app, allowing for even more users to connect with their personalized playlists, stats and shareable stories.
Secondly, 2022 Recap page will include a new Top Trends stat that will show you which artists you discovered before others. There’s also a new Identity feature that will give you a personalised music personality that captures your music vibe based on your listening habits.
In addition, the Recaps share the unique-to-YouTube content, such as remixes and live performances, that you loved the most this year. You can view shareable cards that feature your favourite tunes from each season plus you can customise them using pictures you’ve already uploaded to Google Photos.
Prior to this update, the only way to view your Recap was on YouTube Music. This year, you can access the 2022 Recap directly from the YouTube app. “You can begin your Recap journey by heading to the YouTube app on iOS or Android and search for ‘2022 Recap.'”
YouTube Music also added a new option for you to share your 2022 Recap on social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. Just tap the arrow at the bottom of each story to share.
Interestingly, TikTok is preparing to launch its branded music app. The company has quoted a patent for “TikTok Music” with the US Trademark Office and the document states users can buy, play, share, and download music, create, share, and recommend playlists, comment on music, and stream audio and video live.
User’s ability to “comment on music, songs, and albums” will help the short-video platform to favourable compete with rivals YouTube, Spotify and Apple music.
