Google has been introducing new features and adjustments to YouTube Music in order to compete with industry giants like Spotify and Apple Music. A new “Add to Playlist” UI for YouTube Music was recently tested by the firm. In order to improve the user experience, it has now implemented a number of back-end changes and new features.
YouTube Music Gets a Makeover
Google revealed some of the important features and enhancements in a post that were recently given to YouTube Music customers around the world in an official community forum post. Many of the new features, such as the Snapchat integration, Save to queue, and the song/video switcher, had been identified previously. However, YouTube Music’s radio algorithm has been enhanced to help consumers discover new artists and songs on playlists and radio stations, according to the firm.
According to YouTube Music, the “back-end logic that nominates the music that shows up” in Song Radio and playlist automixes has been enhanced to show more songs and artists. Users will be able to find new music and artists in their automix playlists or radio stations as a result of this.
The YouTube Music platform for smart TVs and game consoles has also been updated by Google by deleting duplicate tracks from the “Listen Again” area. Furthermore, for individuals who share their membership with family members, YouTube Music has “restricted Family listening to a new family shelf.”
Another useful feature added to the platform is the ability to disable the autoplay function, which prevents radio stations from being created automatically everytime a single song is played. The YouTube Songs Wear OS software has also been improved by the addition of the option to shuffle downloaded music. Users could only shuffle playlists before, and albums could only be played in order.
