Your WhatsApp messages could soon self-destruct

You may soon be able to set a self-destruct timer on messages you post in a WhatsApp Group.

This feature is available in the recently availed beta version of the app.

In the beta, the feature resides within group settings. A user will set a timer after which the messages will be redacted forever.

This is not exactly a new invention, with other apps such as Telegram having embedded the feature in their apps for years.

Some third party WhatsApp platforms also provide users with this tool.

Much like Telegram, Facebook’s Messenger app also offers the same feature through ”secret chat” option.

A release date for the version of the app with this new feature has yet to be announced.
