Finally, Instagram has added a new feature to its mobile website which makes it possible for users to now post photos from Instagram’s mobile website. The feature is only active when visiting the website from a mobile device. The mobile version of Instagram’s website was previously limited to browsing your timeline, search and discovery, notifications, and managing your account. The feature could help Instagram gain popularity in emerging markets where downloading their app may be cost prohibitive. Users can skip download wait time, data costs, and storage requirements while getting basic functionality.

The company tells TechCrunch, “Instagram.com (accessed from mobile) is a web experience optimised for mobile phones. It’s designed to help people have a fuller experience on Instagram no matter what device or network they are on.”

Although, features like Stories and messaging aren’t available on the mobile  website, due to the fact that it’s only a lightweight option on slow networks.
