WhatsApp has updated it security feature by allowing you lock the app using Face ID or Touch ID. According to a report on 9to5mac, this feature is currently only available on the iOS version and on some specific phones. You will also have to update your iOS app to the latest version, 2.19.20, from the Apple App Store. Then you can enable from the app’s Privacy menu within Account Settings.
Though the feature does not work on a per chat basis, this biometric feature adds an extra layer of security to your WhatsApp conversations.
As stated earlier, the feature is officially only available to iOS users, Android users would not have long to wait for the feature on their phones based on a recent testing observed by WABetaInfo last month.
Just a couple of days ago, Mark Zuckerberg talked about merging WhatsApp with Facebook Messenger and Instagram. So this feature might extend to the other platforms soon.
