Instagram has now rolled out the feature where you can now get and send Instagram Direct messages on desktop. Hitherto this was only available to a privileged few as Instagram started rolling out this feature this January.
Instagram took to Twitter to make this announcement last Friday.
So this direct messaging experience works the exact same way as on the mobile app.
When you log in, you’ll see the Direct Message icon in the top right hand corner.
This new feature should be useful for businesses, influencers, and anyone else who sends lots of DMs, while also helping to round out the app’s experience across devices.
Last year Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, said that the company plans to eventually allow Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram users to message each other, regardless of the platform they’re using.
