Xiaomi has joined the league of the fingerprinters with the release of its first fingerprint enabled smartphone called the Redmi Note 3. This is good news to its range of affordable smartphones with this feature. The third generation Redmi Note unveiled in Beijing today has a sensor located on the reverse. Some of other notable features of this device includes the full aluminum metal body and the massive 4000 mah battery .
Xiaomi is a privately owned Chinese electronics company headquartered in Beijing, China. It is the world’s 4th largest smartphone maker. Xiaomi designs, develops, and sells smartphones, mobile apps, and related consumer electronics. Since the release of its first smartphone in August 2011, Xiaomi has gained market share in mainland China and expanded into developing a wider range of consumer electronics, including a smart home device ecosystem.
The new Redmi Note 3 has a body design with 120-point ultra-fine double sided and curved edges. The phone is 8.65mm at its thickest point and weighs 164g, 4g more than its predecessor despite the larger battery. Other specs include a 5.5-inch 1080p display, MediaTek Helio X10 processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage or 3GB RAM and 32GB storage depending upon the model you choose, 13 megapixel rear camera with phase detection autofocus, 4G dual SIM, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and MIUI 7. Along with the Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi has launched the Mi Pad 2 and Mi Air Purifier 2, all of which are smarter variants of their predecessors.
The Redmi Note 3 is a budget flagship smartphone as it offers tech specs in keeping with its ¥899 ($141, £93) price tag and will come in Gold, Silver, and Dark Grey.
Xiaomi is trying to gain grounds in the African and developing markets where its high end budget friendly might probably be a much welcome development.
