Chinese electronics giant, Xiaomi, has announced that it would be unveiling a new member of the Mi-series, Mi 9T, on the 12th of June. It is ‘T’ variant of the Mi 9 series. The company unveiled its Mi 9 flagship smartphone back in February this year.
This was done via a tweet some days ago. “Only 10 days left! The new #Mi9 member will launch on June 12th! Are you ready for more innovation for everyone from #Mi9T?”

All we know is that it will be called the Mi 9T. It has since been assumed that the new smartphone would be a rebranded variant of Redmi K20. However the smartphone’s listing on Geekbench confirms it is a Redmi K20, same as the codename for the phone ‘davinci’. Xiaomi Mi 9T recently bagged certifications from Thailand’s NBTC which revealed the moniker officially. The same phone with model numbers M1903F10A/C/T/G/I have been certified in Malaysia, Russia, Taiwan and India as well.
The benchmark database reveals that the Mi 9T will come with Android Pie, 6GB RAM, and an octa-core processor having a base frequency of 1.8GHz.
Another certainty is that this phone will feature Xiaomi’s Under-Display Camera Technology. Xiaomi senior vice president Wang Xiang tweeted a series of slides to explain more about how the feature actually works.

Now as usual, the camera is embedded in the top of the device. But instead of putting a border around it (a notch) or cutting a hole in the screen (a hole-punch display), the camera is covered with a “special-low-reflective glass with high transmittance.”
According to Xiaomi, the setup allows the area of the display to become transparent to take pictures, and the transparent display then cleverly doubles as the camera lens on top.
The pricing and availability details of the Mi 9T will be announced when it is officially unveiled next Wednesday.
