Xiaomi Launches REDMI Note 15 Series in Nigeria with AI Design

Xiaomi has officially launched the REDMI Note 15 Series in Nigeria, introducing a new lineup of mid-range smartphones that combine advanced AI-powered features, rugged durability, and long-lasting battery performance.

The launch event, held in Lagos on January 28, featured three models: the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G, REDMI Note 15 5G, and the standard REDMI Note 15. According to Xiaomi, the series was designed with everyday use in mind, targeting consumers who need reliable devices capable of handling demanding environments without sacrificing performance or modern smartphone features.

The release reflects Xiaomi’s broader strategy of strengthening its presence in Africa’s highly competitive smartphone market by offering feature-rich devices at accessible price points.

Built for Tough Conditions and Heavy Daily Use

One of the key selling points of the REDMI Note 15 Series is durability. Xiaomi says the devices are built with REDMI Titan Durability technology, which includes reinforced frames, multi-layer shock absorption, and advanced dust and water resistance.

The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G stands out in this regard. It carries multiple protection ratings, including IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K, allowing it to withstand dust exposure, high-pressure water jets, and submersion in up to two metres of water for as long as 24 hours. The device has also received SGS Premium Performance Certification and TÜV SÜD Smartphone Water-Resistant Endurance certification.

Xiaomi says the Pro+ model can survive drops from heights of up to 2.5 metres, thanks to a shock-resistant frame and fiberglass back panel. Across the lineup, the company has added Wet Touch 2.0, ensuring that screens remain responsive even when wet—an important feature for users in humid or rainy conditions.

Large Batteries and Fast Charging Across the Lineup

Battery performance is another focus area for the new devices. The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G is equipped with a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery that supports 100W HyperCharge, enabling significantly faster charging times than previous generations.

All models in the series support reverse charging, allowing users to power accessories or other devices directly from their phones. Xiaomi says this feature is aimed at users who rely heavily on their smartphones throughout the day for work, business, and communication.

    AI-Powered Cameras Lead the Upgrade

Photography and content creation play a central role in the REDMI Note 15 Series, particularly in the Pro models.

The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G features a new 200-megapixel camera system, powered by a large 1/1.4-inch image sensor and supported by AI-driven image processing. Xiaomi says the setup enables high-detail photography across different lighting conditions, with optical-level in-sensor zoom and improved HDR performance.

The Pro models offer multiple focal lengths ranging from 23mm to 92mm, while the standard REDMI Note 15 comes with a 108MP camera system that includes 3× optical-level zoom.

AI-based features include enhanced portrait processing, automated post-editing, and an AI Creativity Assistant designed to simplify photo editing and content creation for social media and digital platforms.

    Performance, Display, and AI Integration

Under the hood, the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, paired with Xiaomi’s IceLoop cooling system to maintain performance during intensive use. Other models in the lineup run on updated Snapdragon and MediaTek chipsets optimized for efficiency and everyday performance.

All devices support Google Gemini and Circle to Search, expanding AI-assisted search and productivity tools. Xiaomi has also introduced Xiaomi Offline Communication, which enables limited voice transmission even when network coverage is unavailable.

The displays range from 6.77 inches to 6.83 inches, offering peak brightness levels of up to 3,200 nits and carrying multiple eye-care certifications. Audio has also been upgraded, with the Pro+ model delivering significantly louder sound output compared to earlier REDMI devices.

    Expanding Xiaomi’s Footprint in Nigeria

By launching the REDMI Note 15 Series locally, Xiaomi is positioning the lineup as an all-purpose smartphone option for Nigerian consumers who prioritize durability, battery life, and camera performance without moving into premium pricing territory.

The devices are now available nationwide through authorized retail partners, including Slot, Finet, Raya, and 3C Hub, as well as online via Jumia.

As competition intensifies in Nigeria’s smartphone market, Xiaomi’s focus on rugged design and AI-enabled features signals an effort to differentiate its mid-range offerings while catering to local usage realities.
