Xiaomi agrees to buy 1,500 patents from Microsoft

Chinese Xiaomi has agreed to purchase 1,500 patents from Microsoft. This portrays the Chinese manufacturer’s intention to spread outside China. Xiaomi currently has 26% share of the android market and it seeks to repeat this on the international scene but it is being hampered by intellectual property challenges.

In 2014, Ericsson sued Xiaomi in India, and a Delhi High Court judge banned the Chinese manufacturer from selling some of its devices in the country.

So buying these patents will accelerate its ability to grow quickly outside China.

Xiaomi is known for providing good quality gadgets at the lowest prices and entering the international scene with these patents will bring about reduced gadget prices for consumers.

The cost of these patents have not been disclosed.
