X (Twitter) CEO, Linda Yaccarino stated on the social media platform that the company has paid almost $20 million to creators.
In July this year, X launched its Creator Ads Revenue Sharing program where creators get a share in ad revenue they earned from ads served in the replies to their posts to other verified users.
To be eligible for the program, you need to be subscribed to X Blue (which appears to be the new name for Twitter Blue) or be a Verified Organization, have “at least 15 million impressions on your cumulative posts within the last 3 months,” and have at least 500 followers.
In August 2023, people started reporting that they were indeed getting paid and Elon Musk announced that the initial round of payouts for creators would total nearly $5 million.
Creator Ads Revenue Sharing is only available in all the countries where Stripe supports payouts. Unfortunately this excludes all African countries as Stripe is not supported anywhere in Africa. By the way, Stripe is only available in 46 countries globally.
