After many teases about the upcoming iOS 16 report says Apple will add a new feature called Private Access Tokens to help users bypass CAPTCHAs on some apps and websites. This is good news, isn’t it?
According to MacRumors, “the handy new feature can be found in the Settings app under Apple ID > Password & Security > Automatic Verification. MacRumors noted that Apple (via iCloud) will automatically and privately verify your device and Apple ID account in the background, eliminating the need for apps and websites to present you with a CAPTCHA verification prompt.
Apple says “Private Access Tokens” can help users identify HTTP requests from legitimate devices and people without compromising their identity or personal information. As a powerful alternative, it can help you reduce how often you show CAPTCHAs to people.
Apple has worked with two major content delivery networks, Fastly and Cloudflare, to develop the system. When it launches with iOS 16 and macOS Ventura, sites that use either of the services to defend against spam should be able to take advantage of the system and stop showing you so many CAPTCHAs.
Note that you will have to activate the Automatic Verification feature within Password & Security in the Settings menu and you’ll be able to skip CAPTCHAs for those supported platforms completely. Apple also mentioned that the feature won’t share any of your sensitive data such as email address or phone number to the websites you’re trying to access either, and it won’t track your IP address, giving you more online security and privacy.
In the first betas of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, Automatic Verification is enabled by default. Apple said the feature is also supported on macOS Ventura. All of the software updates are currently in beta and will be released later this year.

Google is also working on something similar for Users of Android and Windows. The Tech. Giant, as Fastly noted in a blog post, is working “to develop and standardize the technology behind Private Access Tokens.” It is a similar concept of having a trusted party vouch that you’re a human is being built into internet standards.
“If you’re familiar with Chrome Trust Tokens, Private Access Tokens might seem familiar,” Fastly says.
