According to Forbes latest list of highest paid athletes, Floyd Mayweather is the numero uno. This is the third time in four years that the 38 year old boxer a.k.a “Money” is taking the title.
His $300 million earnings in the last 12 months is primarily made up of his winnings from the bout with the Pac Man, Manny Pacquiao. The fight alone fetched him $100 million up front (plus a 60% share of the $400 million revenues from TV viewership, tickets for the fight and sponsorships).
Though the Pac Man lost his fight with Mayweather, he is the second-highest earner with $160m takings.
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo comes in at a distant third with $79.6m (£51.4m).
Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Tennis star Roger Federe were fourth and fifth respectively.
