Organizers of the Google Cloud Developer Challenge have announced the winners of the 2013 edition of the competition. For the Sub-Saharan Africa region, FunnyLeni, a Nigerian-based startup and Ghana-based Tourbly were adjudged winners.
FunnyLeni beat 9 other African platforms from Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa in the Social / Personal Productivity / Games / Fun category to cling the $20,000 cash prize.
For this edition of the competition that was announced last September, submissions were received from developers across the world who built apps based on Google’s Cloud platform.
In all, more than 400 applications were received while only 12 projects emerged winners with each region of the world producing 2 winners each.
FunnyLeni is a funny videos discovery platform that aggregates hilarious local videos has emerged one of the regional winners of the 2013 Google Cloud Developer Challenge.
Users can watch and share short clips of funny videos from movies, shows, interviews, TV shows and several others off YouTube and elsewhere on the internet. It also supports connection with Google+, Facebook and Twitter accounts.
