Few months ago, WhatsApp made the voice calling feature available to Android, Blackberry10 and iOS users, leaving Windows Phone users in the dark. Then just a month ago, the company released a beta app to Windows Phone developers, adding the voice calling feature to the beta app which was an indication that it was going to be made public. Earlier today, WhatsApp rolled out a new update for Windows Phone -version 2.12.60- making voice calling available on Windows Phone public app.
And that is not all, the version 2.12.60 update also brings another feature to the app which is sharing audio recordings, allowing users easily share audio files from the app without any hassle. Below is the official changelog of the update.
- WhatsApp Calling: Call your friends and family using WhatsApp for free, even if they’re in another country. WhatsApp calls use your phone’s Internet connection rather than your cellular plan’s voice minutes. Data charges may apply. Available on Windows Phone 8+.
- You can now send audio files (available on Windows Phone 8.1+).
The new update is highly welcomed and I’m quite sure windows phone users are thrilled to get this new feature on their devices. The update can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store Here.
