Microsoft is making a change to Windows 11 Pro that some people may not like. To be able to use their laptop or computer during the initial setup procedure, users will now need a Microsoft account and internet access. With the recent introduction of Windows 11 Build 22557 for Insiders in the Dev Channel, the company revealed the change.
Windows 11 Pro Requires a Microsoft Account
This new adjustment will work in the same way that Microsoft needs Windows 11 Home users to meet these two requirements. Users of Windows 11 Pro could easily set up a new laptop or PC by logging into a local account, which did not require an internet connection, up until recently. Though, this is not the case right now.
“Like Windows 11 Home edition, Windows 11 Pro edition now requires internet access during the initial device setup (OOBE) only,” Microsoft wrote in a blog post. MSA will also be necessary for setup if you opt to use the gadget for personal purposes. In future WIP flights, you can anticipate to be asked for your Microsoft Account.”
This looks to be Microsoft’s coercion of users towards creating a Microsoft account. Since the release of Windows 10, Bing, and even the Edge browser, Microsoft has urged users to get one.
It is worth noting that this move is unlikely to affect customers who have already set up their local accounts or who log in with an MSA. However, it does not appear to be valid because it will make it impossible for users to set up their laptops or PCs in regions where internet connectivity is slow or non-existent, or if they are doing so for others. It also makes consumers’ data sharing with Microsoft necessary, even if they do not want it.
Because Windows users have to sign up or log in online to use their laptops or computers, this makes it the only operating system that does this. Android, Mac OS, and even Chrome OS make it easy for people to use the device without having to sign in with an account.
This new change is now being rolled out to Insiders. It is expected to take a few months for the general Windows 11 Pro users to get it, but it should happen soon. Windows 11 also has a new Task Manager UI, app folders in the Start menu, some touch gestures, drag and drop support in the Taskbar, and a lot more.
