Microsoft released Windows 11 version 22000.588 to beta testers recently, with a new notification system and other small tweaks. However, the Redmond behemoth failed to specify in its official patch notes that the update also adds a warning watermark to Windows 11 machines with unsupported hardware.
Windows 11 on Unsupported Devices Now Has a Watermark
Microsoft was reportedly testing a new “system requirement not met” watermark for Windows 11 running on incompatible hardware last month, according to reports. The corporation is now distributing it to beta testers in preparation for its release to the stable channel.
Insiders have confirmed that Windows 11 running on incompatible hardware now displays a new watermark in the bottom-right corner of their screen, following the release of the latest Windows 11 upgrade last week. A similar warning can also be shown on the Settings app’s system page. “System requirements not met,” states the new watermark. On the desktop, go to settings to learn more.” In the official patch notes, however, the business did not mention the insertion of a new watermark.
For those who are curious, Microsoft limited the availability of Windows 11 to newer PCs and laptops with high hardware requirements. Many people have utilized workarounds to get Windows 11 up and running on hardware that isn’t supported, however some apps and utilities didn’t work for the devices.
In the past, Microsoft employed warning watermarks for unactivated Windows editions, similar to the one seen recently. Many Windows features, such as dark mode, personalization options, and themes, were disabled for these devices. However, Microsoft is not doing anything for Windows 11 running on unsupported devices other than displaying a watermark, which could probably be removed with simple registry tweaks. We are currently investigating methods for removing the watermark and will provide you with a step-by-step instruction as soon as possible.
