Last year, Microsoft released Windows 11, which included a dedicated widgets panel that users can reach by hovering their cursor over the weather indicator in the bottom-left corner of the taskbar. With the latest Windows 11 Build 25120, Microsoft is looking into bringing widgets and other “lightweight interactive content” to the home screen of Windows 11. Take a look at the details below.
What’s New in Windows 11 Build 25120?
Microsoft has begun sending out Windows 11 build 25120 to Windows Insiders on the Dev channel. Apart from minor tweaks and bug fixes, Microsoft has introduced a completely new feature that allows users to pin an interactive search bar to the home screen of their Windows-based PC or laptop.
The search bar allows users to search the web for any type of content, and it will presumably use Microsoft’s Bing search to find and display results on Microsoft Edge, though Microsoft did not provide much information on that. Furthermore, the business claims that this is one of the “conceptual features” it is working on, and that instead of just a search bar, it will eventually enable a variety of widgets. There’s a risk it won’t make it into the final version of Windows 11.
Furthermore, not every Windows Insider running the current release will see the new search bar. It is only available to a limited few users. In the header image, you can see how the search bar appears on the Windows 11 start screen.
The “Show more options” option in the Right-click Menu bar can also be used to enable or hide the search bar. It’s worth noting that users must reboot their systems after installing the latest version in order for the feature to take effect.
Aside from that, Microsoft has repaired a number of bugs on the Windows 11 platform. Users can also get ISO files for the build to perform a clean installation. This update will also be available for ARM64 devices. To learn more about the latest Windows 11 build 25120, visit Microsoft’s official website and read the whole changelog.
If you like the idea of having widgets on your Windows 11 home screen and have access to the new search bar option in the latest build, you can give Microsoft positive feedback via the Feedback Hub so that the company can continue to improve the feature and add support for more widgets and interactive content.
