Windows 10 will be a free upgrade, but only for the first year. That includes upgrades from Windows 8.1 and Windows 7, along with smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1.
Once you’ve updated your device, Microsoft says it will keep the software current for its “supported lifetime.”
There’s still no word on when the Windows 10 update will actually become available, but we’ll let you know as soon as it is announced.
