Who will win in this inaugural edition of “She Leads Africa” competition this Saturday, 20th August?
The ten finalists were announced on the 15th of August and we shall know who will take home the first prize of $10,000 in a couple of days. There will be a networking reception with judges, media, investors, and finalists on Friday, the 19th of September before the pitch the next day.
Among the prizes to be won in the competition are $10,000 for the 1st prize; $5,000 for the 2nd prize; access to prominent venture capitalists, angel investors and many more. However these ten finalists will need to go past a high quality team of judges namely; Bola Adesola, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria; Hakeem Bello- Osagie, Chairman of Etisalat Nigeria; Audu Maikori, CEO of Chocolate City; Jason Njoku, Founder of iROKO Partners; Omoyemi Akerele, Founder Style House Files and Ngozi Edozien of InVivo Partners.
The ten finalists jostling for the prizes are as follows:
- Winifred Selby (Ghana): Afrocentric Bamboo Limited designs, develops, and markets bamboo bikes and frames and related products and services.
- Banke Kuku (UK): Textiles designs African inspired luxury fabrics and accessories for the fashion, interiors and soft furnishings markets.
- Oyindamola Honey Ogundeyi (Nigeria): Fashpa.com is an online retailing platform, dedicated to providing African consumers with access to fashion and lifestyle brands.
- Elizabeth Kperrun (Nigeria): Lizzie’s Creations develops mobile and web applications uniquely aimed at the development and education of women and children in Africa.
- Nour Drissi (Morocco): Loue 1 Voiture is the first online platform that enables you to reserve a car from big and small car hire companies in Morocco.
- Anike Lawal (Nigeria): Mamalette is a website and information portal dedicated to the needs of Nigerian parents and parents to be.
- Kega Florence Mukwevho (South Africa): MKP Fast Foods creates youth employment in SA by operating a low cost, scalable mobile kitchen for a growing chicken brand, Galito’s.
- Jade Mann (South Africa): Night Bus is a safe, cool way of getting around town at night. We enrich the party experience by bringing people closer to brands they love.
- Cherae Robinson (USA): Rare Customs connects SME’s to emerging African tourism and investment trends.
- Taffi Woolward (Nigeria): Thandos provides a platform that empowers aspiring African artists to design women’s fashion footwear that is comfortable, convenient and affordable.
