Jan Koum, Chief Executive Officer and cofounder of WhatsApp has revealed that Whatsapp has 700 million active users monthly, he added that Whatsapp users send about 30 billion messages daily.

These are huge numbers by any standards and it is impressive to see that Whatsapp now has more than half the users its parent company, Facebook has.

WhatsApp is relatively unknown in the U.S. and Europe and owes it large user base to Asian and African countries where the app can be found on most smartphones including feature phones.
