WhatsApp Moves Beta Program Sign-Up Into the App, Bypassing Play Store Limits

WhatsApp is launching a new feature that allows users to join the Beta Program directly from the app’s settings. This means you won’t need to check the Google Play Store anymore to find out if there’s a Beta program available. This feature is accessible to anyone granted access by Meta.

This update is part of the Android 2.26.2.11 beta and removes barriers that prevented many users from accessing new features such as Username PINs and animated emojis.

Joining the WhatsApp Beta program on the Google Play Store has been challenging due to participant limits, leaving most users unable to enter. However, this new update changes the sign-up process by moving it directly into the app, effectively bypassing the Play Store’s restrictions.

As you can see in the screenshot provided by WABetaInfo, all you need to do is go to the main Settings menu in WhatsApp, scroll down, and tap the new tab called “Early access to features” (likely under “Help” or “App Language”).  Next, “Join the beta program.” A prompt will appear, explaining, “With this on, you’ll try new WhatsApp features before they’re released.”

Once you turn on the switch, the app will trigger an internal update that downloads the new version directly to your device.

Before you check your app, keep in mind that this feature is not yet available to everyone. This “Early Access” initiative suggests WhatsApp is rolling it out gradually to avoid issues with the app.

    Why Is WhatsApp Doing This?

WhatsApp wants to gather more feedback on complex features like AI integration and Satellite D2D messaging. These features need extensive testing to work well on different devices and networks. More testers mean faster solutions. By allowing users to control their beta access, WhatsApp can quickly adjust the number of testers when needed.

This is a big win for users, like I, who enjoy testing new features. Joining the beta program is now a decision and not a risk. If you see the “Early access to features” tab in your settings, you’re in luck. Turn it on, but keep in mind that trying out new features may introduce bugs.
