According to reports, WhatsApp may be launching a web client. Rumours about this has been swirling for some months now and today users spotted a live page at web.whatsapp.com, which asks users to scan a QR code with their phone to log in, this might be a part of the process of syncing your device to the desktop version. Logging into the site wasn’t possible, which could only mean the service is not yet live, so I guess we’d all have to wait till it goes live and we really hope it’s soon.
WhatsApp has not responded to a request for comment, but we will update with any statement.
The Facebook-owned company’s plans for voice-calling was revealed by images scraped from WhatsApp’s public site last December, though the company still hasn’t made any public announcement on the release for this feature. At the same time, there’s been intense speculation that the company might expand to the desktop for simple business reasons.
